So to get the ball rolling heres a couple that i watched recently :

The Expendables

Its the 80's action flick to end all action flicks ! A great modern homage to the action and carnage of an 80's action movie with just about alll the gun toting muscle bound actors you know and remember.
A definate disengage brain and enjoy things getting blown up and guys getting the crap kicked out of em !!
I give it 8/10 for pure fun


Centurion

Set in Roman Britain a grittier and more violent film than the recent "King Arthur" makes this worth a watch. A good story only hampered at times by seemingly budget constraints and a weak ending for me.
Good solid cast sets it apart from the usual Hollywood version of these times
I give it 7/10 for action and cast

I really enjoyed this as im a fan of this type of situational "what if ?" style of comedy. Might not be to everyones taste as its not full of obvious jokes. Its just wierdness from the characters that are key. A film in the same vein as "I love you man" and "The Anchorman"
I give it a lol factor of 7/10 stars

What a mess... Just a cobbled together set of scenes that give nothing new. Its like "Wild Wild West" all over again..... Theres one sequence in the middle that has no explanation or reason .... Only thing worth seeing is Megan Fox's sweaty cleavage but even that doesnt save it.

Cant recommend spending any money to see

Skyline

Not as terrible as it has been made out to be! Very nice special effects and reasonable invasion story, just hampered by some poor casting and spending too much time in the apartment ! but all in all not bad worth a watch too pass some time:)

was ok but i found it was filmed as two movies and cobbled together. the effects were far better than the actors

Ultramarines

CG was on a standard that you see in most Intro / Cutscenes in games today, Storyline was very good, but think if it wasn't for the storyline and the Voice actors (John Hurt and Terence Stamp) to name a couple, this movie would be sub standard.

As I mentioned the CG was like an intro / cutscene, I kept expecting the start menu to appear every few minutes

worth a watch but wouldn't recommend buying, wait for TV

Role Models

Bought this in tesco as it was only 3 quid, wasn't expecting much from it (It is Sean William Scott after all), quite an amusing film with an unexpected insight into 'real life Roleplaying'.

The taking of Pelham 123 (2009)

Very good film, John travolta doing what he does best in my opinion (playing the bad guy). Haven't seen the original so can't compare, solid story with a crap ending (aren't most films nowadays though?)

= Considering the topic matter you would expect a film about the forming of facebook to be dull as dishwater, not a truly gripping and fascinating watch as this is...great cast, great music, thoroughly worth a watch and a modern classic imo!

Yeah Buddy that Facebook film almost made me wanna go on facebook more.. Good solid film

Sucker Punch


Fantastic visuals and great soundrack but I found it left the storyline behind somewhat.

The first ten minutes for me where the best part of the film with the high emotional driven shock set ups.

THOR.... Dont know what to say without this post becoming a spoiler. Errm never been my favorite character, but as far as the movie goes give it a watch I enjoyed it! It has some great moments and Loki is just excellent.

Drive

yer it was ok, bit arty, and slow , the action parts are ok, just not enough of them.

sort of a remake of "the driver" ryan o'neal. (far better film).

so i guess as they say "worth a watch" just not worth going to see!

yeah agree on that mate Drive built lots of anticipation with not enough payback at times

Review : The sequel to Ghost Rider is another poor attempt at this characters portrayal. the best thing about it was Nic Cage's hair and thats saying a lot lol.

Review : Not often i give a ten out of ten but this deserves it and in IMAX3D it is unbelievably good.

The film itself is a non stop fun and action ride unencumbered by origin stories due to the preceding individual character movies. About half way in i realised id seen an awesome film and not even started on the invasion side its that packed. Its a lesson in how to do a film with multiple characters of equal stature. Im going again !!!

I must say if you can get to see it in IMAX3D as it is 100% times better than standard 3D and totally immerses you.
